Poynton Gilbert & Sullivan Society

Welcome to Poynton G&S Society's Homepage!

When you see a link on these pages in normal face, it will take you to a link on my webspace.
When you see a link on these pages in italics, it will take you to a link on another website - (usually the Gilbert & Sullivan Archive).  These web pages will be presented in a separate window.

Poynton is a small village on the outskirts of Stockport in North Cheshire, UK.
We rehearse from 8:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. every Monday (principals) and Wednesday (everyone) evening at St. Martin's Church Hall, in Higher Poynton.

Our society was formed at the end of 1970, and gave its first public performance, a concert version of 'The Mikado', at the end of 1971.
Between 1972 and 1974, only concerts were given. The first full dress, week long production with orchestra was 'The Gondoliers', staged at the Poynton High School in 1975. Since 1976 all of the productions have been staged at the Civic Hall.

We've just finished  'G&S Unlimited' - A fully-staged show written and arranged by Richard Huggett (our stage director) with the words and music of Gilbert and Sullivan.

Thanks for visiting our society's Home Page!!

Thanks to those people at the Archive for getting me in to this web-publishing nightmare! (Just trying to keep up-to date is really difficult)
